How it works

  1. 1

    Open the app

Point your camera at any barcode or ingredient label.

  2. 2

    Scan it

Barcode mode looks it up in our database. Photo mode reads the label with AI.

  3. 3

    See the verdict

Halal, haram, or mushbooh — with the reason and the source for every ingredient.

What's inside

Barcode database

Over 40,000 ingredients and E-codes catalogued, cross-checked, and updated.

AI photo OCR

Scan any label, even if we've never seen the product. AI reads the ingredient list and explains every line.

Source-cited verdicts

Every ingredient explanation cites where the ruling comes from. No "trust us." See the source yourself.

Madhab-aware

Choose Hanafi, Shafiʿi, Maliki, or Hanbali. We adjust the verdict when the schools disagree.

Offline-first

The full database lives on your device. Works in supermarket aisles with bad signal.

Built for privacy

No ads. No data sales. We never share your name, location, or device ID. Only the label, only when you scan.

Why you can trust HalalSafe

Built by Muslims, for Muslims

Built independently by Muslims who got tired of standing in supermarket aisles decoding ingredient labels. We built the tool we wished we had.

The four schools, stated plainly

When the four Sunni schools agree, we tell you. When 3 of 4 agree, we follow the majority. When they split, we mark it mushbooh (doubtful) so you can decide for yourself.

Every verdict cites its source

Each ingredient verdict shows where the ruling comes from — no "AI said so." You can read the source yourself.

Independent — not a fatwa

HalalSafe is an informational tool, not a fatwa-issuing body. We don't replace a scholar. We give you the data so you can ask better questions.

No ads. No data sales. No sponsored brands.

We work for you, not for any brand on the shelf. Our only revenue comes from Premium subscribers — which is why we keep the price honest.

Pricing

Honest pricing. No discounts, no countdown timers, no "limited time" gimmicks.

Frequently asked

Where do the verdicts come from?

Every ingredient verdict cites a source — typically a published halal-ingredient database, scholarly opinion, or the manufacturer's ingredient disclosure. We never invent rulings. When sources disagree, we surface that too.

What if scholars disagree on an ingredient?

We default to the majority position when 3 of 4 schools agree. When they split evenly, we mark it mushbooh (doubtful) and explain who says what — so you can decide for yourself.

What data does HalalSafe collect?

Only the label image or barcode you choose to scan. We don't share your name, location, or device ID. No ads. No data sales. No analytics-broker contracts.
